Colour & Light Exhibition
13 Jul 2013 (Sat) - 12 Jan 2014 (Sun)
Te Papa Tongarewa
Colour & Light: Impressionism from France & America presents an illuminating selection of paintings, sculptures, and prints from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston – one of the world’s great impressionist collections.
In the late 1800s, the impressionists transformed art on both sides of the Atlantic. Abandoning the studio for the outdoors, they captured the changing world around them with broad brushstrokes and bold, unblended colours. Whether painting the boulevards of Paris or the farms of New England, they brought a new intimacy and immediacy to their subject matter: the everyday experience of modern life.
Colour & Light includes works by Monet, Cézanne, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Rodin, Whistler, Cassatt, Homer, Hassam, and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to see the masters of French impressionism alongside their American devotees.

The Frontier Touring Company is delighted to confirm the return of critically acclaimed music legend Leonard Cohen to New Zealand for a series of enigmatic performances in December.
Cohen - along with his incredible nine piece band featuring the likes of Sharon Robinson, the famous Webb Sisters and musical director Roscoe Beck - will be performing to audiences for the first time since his successful 2010 tour.
An artist who requires no introduction, Cohen is arguably the greatest singer songwriter of modern times. His foundations as a poet can be seen throughout his colourful and emotive songwriting, Cohen has created an anthology of songs that indulge the senses and stay with you long after the music finishes.
Albums like Songs Of Leonard Cohen (1967), Songs Of Love And Hate (1970) and I’m Your Man (1990), right up to 1992’s The Future, 2001’s Ten New Songs, 2004’s Dear Heather and last years Old Ideas are rightly considered classics.
Since returning to the stage in 2008 after a 15-year hiatus, Cohen has lost nothing in his years off the road and his shows have quickly been recognised as musical history. Recent performances across the United Kingdom confirm that some things get better with age, like fine wine, cheese and Leonard Cohen.
With a career spanning six decades and sell out shows around the world, the hunger to see this highly influential writer, poet and troubadour remains undiminished.
