2011 NZI Rugby Sevens (7s) WellingtonIf there's a word to describe the Wellington Sevens, it's "awesome!" Our city's hugely popular two-day rugby tournament is one of New Zealand’s premier annual sporting events.





Wellington will turn into party central during the Sevens, with several free events scheduled to let everyone join in the fun. The annual Sevens Street Parade takes place on Thursday 3 February on the streets of Wellington, with floats riding through the city and a reception in Civic Square.





Don't miss the crazy and colourful costumes on display at the Dominion Post Fashion Runway outside the Wellington Railway Station on Friday 4 February, the first day of the Sevens. The festivities culminate in the Courtenay Place Sevens Street Party along Courtenay Place from 7pm on Saturday 5 February.

The all new touring sensation Nitro Circus Live, which performed to record breaking crowds throughout Australian capital cities in its worldwide debut this year, will tour New Zealand for the first time in February 2011. Heading the tour will be 17 times X games medalist and new world no. 1 FMX rider, Travis Pastrana on his first trip to New Zealand





Joining Travis Pastrana (USA) will be the entire Nitro Circus crew from the hit MTV show including Jolene Van Vugt, Erik Roner, Jim De Champ, Special Gregg and Streetbike Tommy. The show will showcase some of the greatest FMX riders on the planet including FMX 2009 gold medalist Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams (AUS) and the only rider performing FMX double back flips and current X games gold medalist, Cam Sinclair and many more. Some of the best BMX riders in the world will also feature including X games medalist Andy Buckworth performing the death defying double front flip.





For the first ever time, NZ fans will see the Nitro Crew launch themselves off the death defying 50 foot high Nitro Gigant-A-Ramp on a host of crazy contraptions including – kids trikes, snow skis, razor scooters and boogey boards to name a few.

AMI Wellington Round the BaysAMI Round the Bays is Wellington’s largest participation event, with around 10,000 people taking the opportunity to be part of this iconic Wellington event. AMI Round the Bays includes two main events; the 7km fun run/walk and the New Balance Half Marathon.



The 7km Fun Run/Walk starts at Frank Kitts Park and winds its way round the bays to the finish line at Kilbirnie Park.



The New Balance Half Marathon continues on around the Miramar Peninsular, where the route turns just north of Scorching Bay and backtracks to Kilbirnie Park for live entertainment, food stalls and a festival like atmosphere.

Also on display will be works by Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Munch.







Spanning the dynamic and transformative years of the 19th and 20th centuries, this exhibition features 96 works by 70 of the greatest German, French, Belgian, Dutch and Swiss masters of the period. Included are iconic Neoclassical, Realist, Impressionist, and Symbolist works, as well as breathtaking German Expressionist paintings and sculpture.

Each of the six stages has its own flavour. The largest of them, the Vodafone Dub and Roots stage boasts a truly epic line-up, with Shapeshifter joined by the legendary TrinityRoots, Tiki, Katchafire, Six60 and Salmonella Dub.



The Jim Beam Rock line-up see’s the first performance in two years from Blindspott, throw in The Feelers, Midnight Youth, Elemeno-P, The Checks, I Am Giant and Black River Drive and you’ve got a wall to wall day of Kiwi rock.



On the new Vodafone Pop and RnB stage a plethora of talent comes to Homegrown for the first time, with Dane Rumble headlining an all-star outing that includes J Williams, Savage vs. Scribe, Nesian Mystik, PNC, Kidz in Space, Ivy Lies, Motocade, DJ Logikal and hotly-tipped Wellington quartet Supermodel.



It will be an indie-licious day at the Red Bull Studio stage as Flying Nun legends The Clean share a massive bill with The Phoenix Foundation, Die! Die! Die, Cairo Knife Fight, The Ruby Suns, Family Cactus, Artisan Guns and an assortment of electro, pop and hip hop from Kids of 88, Tommy Ill and Coco Solid.



And it certainly doesn’t let up on the Nokia Electronic stage with State of Mind’s live show joining the genre defining sound of The Upbeats, Dubstep pioneer; Optimus Gryme and the fresh global sounds of Maya and Vanya, Dick Johnson, Tim Phin and Clarke Gayford.



Last but not least the free to the public Amphitheatre stage features the country’s premier 3 on 3 breakdancing competition with a mix of good time grooves from Sunshine Soundsystem, Jayson Norris and Brazilbeat Sound System.
